The Staff of Life
My life is settling down from the move. I have a rhythm. I have a groove. That is until the kids mess it up. Anyway, so I've decided that I want to start making bread. And not the breadmaker kind. The "let your yeast sit with your not too hot/not too cold water and honey" kind. The "thank heavens you have a kitchen-aid" kind. The "let it raise and smell the yeast" kind. The "let it raise until it doubles" kind. But most importantly. The "comes out of the oven like a loaf and NOT a cylinder" kind. Yum! I'm making my first batches today. And I must say, while I'm sure I'll improve with time, I have nevertheless been triumphant! I have turned out actual loaves of whole wheat clouds instead of the bricks that I used to turn out. Viva la bread!
