I was tired last night. Very tired. I didn't have any problem falling asleep. I didn't even hear Joseph get in from his basketball game. I was tired.
So, I was glad when I woke up having to go to the bathroom at 4:00 am. Otherwise I don't think I would have heard the tornado siren go off. (Really, it's not as loud as it should be.) I woke Joseph up and then we went to wake up the kids for another "bathroom campout." Only this time it was like a real campout because we had no power. And, of course, we don't know where any of our flashlights are. Luckily we bought Shari a little camping light a long time ago. She was so excited that she was the one who could show us the way to the bathroom and illuminate us while in our dreary prison. Shari also didn't let me forget that we were supposed to have snacks--pretzels. I guess I'd better not run out of those while we're in tornado season!
The only good thing was that we were safe (there was damage in surrounding cities and neighborhoods), plus the kids went back to bed right away even if we couldn't, and we were both able to sleep in till 8:00. I can't tell you the last time that's happened. So I guess there were several good things. It pays to look on the bright side :)
