For over a hundred years, McKinney has had "Third Monday Trade Days." What started as a way for the people of Collin County to trade goods while they met on the third Monday of each month when the circuit judge came to town has turned into the North Texas' oldest and largest monthly trade days/flea market. While not actually on the Third Monday anymore (the event now occurs the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before the third Monday), the flea market retains the name of "Third Monday Trade Days."
And the first Trade Days I saw was the first weekend Joseph and I moved here. The Trade Days are only a couple of miles from our house. All weekend I wanted to stop by, but we were so busy getting things for the house, etc. that we just couldn't make it.
I made a goal to visit in September. I invited a friend to go with me.
September came and the day was muggy and hot and my friend had a small baby she didn't want out in the heat. No problem, we just went out to eat lunch instead.
This time I swore that nothing was going to keep me from going in October.
Well, October's Trade Days came and went and I was unable to attend because we had about a million things going on. AAHH!! I was getting frustrated.
Certainly in November I would be able to attend?
Well, Trade Days are this weekend. And once again, I'll be unable to attend. The reason? I stepped off the curb by our house and badly twisted my ankle. I could go, except that I don't fit in Josh's wheelchair.
The Fates . . . the great conspirators. At least I had time to get the blog finished this week!
