I Love My Rachie

I picked Rachel up today from preschool. There's this delightful little eatery on the way home from her school (which is out in the middle of nowhere). Elke's. Just hearing the name makes my mouth water. They don't serve so much the best food ever as little slices of heaven on a plate. And I've been thinking about those slices for the past week . . . particularly their cherry pecan cobbler that is sweet and tart and tangy and buttery and all the right combinations of taste sensations. Pure Bliss!

So, today I decided to put a stop to this self-torture and well, stop at Elke's. Being the nice mommy that I am, I'd give Rachel the "choice"--knowing full well that I could use my MMT (mommy manipulation tactics) to help her make the right "choice." I mean, I could practically taste that sweet tanginess! It was killing me!

Didn't work.

We looked at the pies and cakes on the bottom of the display. And Rachel fell in love . . . but too soon! The cobbler was on the top!

The object of Rachel's affection? Chocolate Texas Pecan Cake.

I tried out the MMT's, but to no avail. We walked out of the store with the Chocolate Cake.

We got into the car and a lightbulb turned on. "Hey, Rach, did you like this because it said Texas?"

"Yep! And we're Texasers!"

'nuff said.
