Okay, I've never read the book. I've never seen the movie. What I'm referring to is the middle ground as you change political parties.
That's where I am. In Purple-land.
What's it like? Uncomfortable. Because to make purple you have to swirl and mix and stir the red and the blue. It's like sitting in a washing machine or dryer. Swirl, mix, tumble, toss, agitate, spin. Old ideas have to be reformed, reshaped, or just tossed out like so many missing socks to make room for the new.
Is this a bad place to be? Not at all. Growth and change don't occur without a few bumps and bruises. Hopefully what will be emerge is something even better.
