I love dreams. Not the sleeping ones. The "when I'm out of college, I'll . . ." ones. Or the "when I retire" ones. Or even the "someday when I rule the world" ones. (Those are my favorite!)
I used to think maybe there was something a little wrong with me, though. There were people all around me "living their dreams" so to speak. Reaching for their goals. And I was busy dreaming dreams.
Now that I'm going for the gusto and living my writing dream, I've realized that some people are like Joseph in the Broadway musical, and "any dream will do." They're not picky. They just go for everything--or at least a lot of things--or possibly just the first one that comes their way. And that works for them.
On the other hand, some of us are a little more reserved, a little more cautious. We dream our dreams, envision our visions-- and when the right one finally lands on our shoulder, we pick it up, gently cradle it and then, we go for it. (And if I could think of a Broadway song to fit that one, I'd let you know. I'm drawing a complete blank.)
Viva la dreams!
