Three Hour Tour

Okay, it was more like a fifteen-minute tour, but what kind of headline is that?

I dropped a friend off at the commuter train station in Plano today. I'd never been there before and I always like going new places. Well, the problem was that we had also stopped off at the community college in Plano before that--another place I had not been. So when I was headed for home, I guess I headed the wrong way to get back to Highway 75. I'm driving along when all of a sudden, I wasn't in Kansas (or Plano as the case may be) anymore--I was now in Parker, Texas. Okay, I'd never heard of Parker, but I've never heard of a lot of places in Texas. And Parker has horses. Lots of them. So, I figured that I was way east of 75 and that I should probably head north. I tried to take a gander at the water towers I could see off in the distance to see what towns were there, but their town names were facing the wrong direction. Luckily, a small road sign pointed me in the right direction and I was home free--passing through the small town of Lucas before going through Allen and then McKinney.

I love driving--and I love learning where things are. Do I mind getting "lost"? Only the part of me that hates making mistakes. But the explorer part of me loves adding to the mental map that anchors me to a place and I love seeing unexpected things, like lots of horses! Viva la side trip!
