And The Thunder Rolled

and the lightning striked (okay, maybe that's struck) ALL NIGHT LONG. Or at least it felt like it.

But from at least 3 or 4 this morning it sounded like our house was underneath Niagra Falls with huge boulders falling on top of us. And when those boulders hit other boulders on the way down, the sky would spark.

About 5 is when Shari came in our room to let us know she was scared. I was a little scared myself. I HATE when lightning is on top of me. But you don't tell that to your four-year-old. So I said, "You know, when I hear that noise, I like to think it's a big drum." (Do parents go to hell for the lies they tell?)

Shari said, "Oh, like in Mulan."

"Yep."

Then she was okay.

Then Rachel woke up. "The rain scares me."

Joseph said, "You want your flowers to get watered don't you?"

"Yep."

Then she was okay.

I'm glad inspiration comes to tired parents in the wee hours of the morning.

Now, the next time I hear the thunder roll, I'll have to remind myself that it's just a big drum.
