Joseph and I went on a walk with the kids on the trail around our housing development. Most of the trail goes by a creek and wooded area. Absolutely gorgeous! But as I was looking at the thick forest growth a couple thoughts popped into my mind:
1) What did the early settlers use for mosquito repellant?
2) Whose job was it to taste all the different kinds of leaves/plants to see which ones were edible and which ones weren't? (Maybe that's why people used to have such large families?)
