When concerts and recitals and special programs abound.
This year Shari performed in her first dance recital. Talk about too cute! Her class performed a routine to Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Shari loves the song. She thinks it's so fun to sing. Joseph taught her after the "you better not pout I'm telling you why. Santa Claus is coming to town" that you say, "Get the picture?" When Shari says it, she sings "Santa Claus is coming to town. Take the picture!" I want to laugh every time. But I digress.
Shari did fairly well during her dress rehearsal. She sang. She danced. She mostly didn't get distracted. But the night of the performance was a little bit different. First, she walks out on stage and you can tell she's trying to find the colored tape that marks her spot, but she has a little bounce all her own. Then she looks out into the audience, which she can't see because of the spotlights, so she starts yelling, "Mom! Dad! Where are you?" I just started busting up. Their number was #23 on the program--and Shari was the first kid out of all of them to yell for Mom or Dad. The music starts up. Shari begins the routine. It's a bit simple, but they're only 3 year olds! Well, I don't know if Shari just got bored with the whole thing or what, but in the middle of the song while everyone is standing in their spot and while some of the kids were doing their routine, Shari breaks out into this tap routine all her own. It was hysterical. I was so proud of her though. She has a rhythm all her own!
I must say I was a beaming mom. And this will be one of my favorite Christmas memories for a long time to come.
